Our Journey Raising Two Children with Special Needs

This blog chronicles our life raising two children, Nicholas 15, diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome and Weston 18, diagnosed with Autism/Asperger's/ADHD. It's the ups, the downs, the joys, the sorrows and most importantly, the beauty of living a life less perfect, a life more meaningful.

The Color of Early Summer

After the long, snowy and brutally cold winter we had here in New England, coupled with the cold and rainy spring, it is nice to see the color of nature finally return to our environment.

These are my lilac bushes loaded with fragrant blossoms of light, light purple.

The powerful smell of lilacs fills the air as we drive up into our yard, a strong reminder that summer is finally here.

This is my variegated weigela. It is loaded with delicate pink and white blossoms. Bumble bees and humming birds float noiselessly over the abundant blossoms.

Since the outside beauty is finally here, I decided to bring some of it inside.

Beautiful!

Wish you all could smell this bouquet!

I was, however, unable to enjoy this for long since Weston's symptoms of ADHD make him extremely sensitive to smells.......

"Hey Mom! (my new name, as you may remember), "Can you take those flowers outta here! They smell!"
