Our Journey Raising Two Children with Special Needs

This blog chronicles our life raising two children, Nicholas 14, diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome and Weston 17, diagnosed with Autism/Asperger's/ADHD. It's the ups, the downs, the joys, the sorrows and most importantly, the beauty of living a life less perfect, a life more meaningful.

The Last Day of School and the First Day of Vacation

The school year has finally ended and no one is more thankful than Weston and I. After a school year filled mostly with stress and disappointment, we are both ready for our highly anticipated vacation.

We arrived here on the Cape yesterday. As we drove through Boston and over the Cape Cod Canal, it was raining hard and thundering. Thankfully however, the traffic was light as we made our way to the south shore. As we approached the lower Cape, the sun broke through the fog and started to shine brightly.

Weston and Nicholas are both very happy. Weston's high energy has finally found an outlet as he has spent much of his time here, combing the beach and searching for treasure. He is calm, relaxed and very happy.

Nicholas on the other hand, has enjoyed exploring every closet and cupboard in the house. He enjoys finding new doors to open and new rooms to search. But nothing pleases him more than the gas fireplace!

Pete is slowly getting used to the new environment but has not passed up an opportunity to sit on a recliner on the porch and soak up some sunshine.

As for me, I have unpacked our stuff, made the beds and finished up the grocery shopping. I am now ready for some much needed rest, relaxation and a few good books.

More photos and stories to come......
