Our Journey Raising Two Children with Special Needs

This blog chronicles our life raising two children, Nicholas 14, diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome and Weston 17, diagnosed with Autism/Asperger's/ADHD. It's the ups, the downs, the joys, the sorrows and most importantly, the beauty of living a life less perfect, a life more meaningful.

The Calm Before the Storm

It is eerily quiet here as we await the approaching storm. The last of the sun's rays now covered by building clouds.

Not a breathe of wind, the trees are unusually still.

Nicholas is probably the only person in New England who is embracing Irene's arrival. We were able to find an emergency backpack at Home Depot! He has added it to his collection. Inside the pack is an unbelievable array of emergency supplies. Things like light sticks, ponchos, even drinking water! He is beside himself with joy. Of course, candles are another necessity in case the lights go out...Nicholas could not be happier. He has assembled an array of his favorite candles to light if needed.

Leave it to Nicholas to always spread a little joy.
